An Unexpected Change of Course

An Unexpected Change of Course

In 2008, I was attending Embry Riddle Aeronautical University pursuing a career as a Commercial Pilot, when a fellow student suggested I come work for IDS deicing aircraft at the Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) airport. I started a month later, and truly fell in love with the equipment and the environment. Several years later, an Operations Supervisor position became available, and I was selected for the role.

From the Operations Supervisor role, I progressed into an Operations Manager followed by the General Manager at MSP. As the General Manager, and supported by an incredible team, our MSP station continually deiced thousands of aircraft per season. Through the continuous management improvement opportunities, the coaching IDS provided as well as the mentorship I received, I was awarded one of our newly created Regional Director of Operations roles in 2017.

I am proud to lead teams at eight different IDS locations – deicing over 25,000 aircraft annually at some of the largest winter weather hubs in the United States. The internal growth I experienced is key to our company’s success, and I continually support this initiative at all of our stations.
